The Unknown Photographer Project
Volume 2: The 1lb Collection
A pound of loose prints from somewhere. Most of it didn’t land. These are the ones that did.
These photos came in a one-pound bundle of 35mm negatives. No labels. No context. Just loose images packed together like someone meant to go through them later.
I scanned them all. Most didn’t land. But a few held on longer than they should have.
Take a look. Maybe you’ve seen one of these before, even if you weren’t there.
Scenes from Inside
The walls were loud. The furniture wasn’t always there. But the people knew how to fill the space.

3pm at grandma’s table. One smile, an ashtray, Cool Whip on the sink, fire extinguisher just in case. Wallpaper holding steady. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A woman and her dog, seen from behind. Both watching the window. Both somewhere else. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Newly married. Mid-pose. Probably told to smile five more times after this. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin

Just friends hamming it up for the camera. Someone’s trying to eat a head, someone else is watching it happen. I wish I knew the story. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Two people under a blanket in a room with nothing else. College years, maybe. Or just a night no one expected to remember. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A man in the doorway of a cabin with no door, no windows, and nothing to hide. Woods at his back, open field ahead. Remote, but not lost. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.
Florida Energy
Too much sun. Not enough shirts. Everyone trying something.

A man with his board after a good session. Looks like Florida. Feels like the ’70s. No need to smile, he already caught what he came for. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Just a guy, a palm tree, and a flex. Feels like a modeling shoot, or at least the start of one. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A surfboard and a blond model, walking away like someone told her to. Might’ve been a sale. Might’ve just looked good. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

They turned their backs to the world and let the beach have it. Same coast as the surfer, just a different kind of confidence. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Piggyback ride, door half open, and a Chevy that probably held the whole weekend together. Feels like Florida in the ’70s. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A man on the outer edge of a kids’ merry-go-round. Not sure if this started as a joke, but it definitely ended as a photo. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.
Posed & Performed
Some of these were for the camera. Some just acted like it.

A singer and guitarist outside a hotel, maybe in Vegas. Playing for tips or just passing time, it’s not clear. But they stayed long enough for someone to notice. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Bald, tattooed, and wearing a tight skirt like it was part of the contract. WCW or WWE? Doesn’t matter. Confidence was the real uniform. | Found 35mm negative, late 1990s

Black and white, wind in her hair, a salute to something just off frame. Feels like Florida. Feels like the ’70s. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A teenage girl posing on a cruise. Ocean in the window, smile just for the camera. The kind of photo parents still ask for. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Two guys suited up for the wedding—white jackets, red accents, and a kid in the back seat stealing the whole shot. The car says early ’80s. So does everything else. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

Somewhere in Peru, a guy decided to breathe fire. No setup, no crowd—just someone saying “watch this” before it got real. | Found 35mm negative, Peru.
Moments Between
The in-betweens. A phone call. A breath. A stare. Nothing much, and everything.

Just a phone call at a pay phone. Mid-’90s, before we carried the world in our pockets. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.

A grandmother and child passing a ball across the living room. Soap opera on the TV, nothing fancy, but everything felt like enough. | Found 35mm negative, unknown origin.
That was The 1lb Collection. I scanned over 1,200 negatives to find these. Most didn’t say much. A few wouldn’t shut up. These are the ones that stayed with me.
The Unknown Photographer Project is a curated archive of found photographs. All images were acquired secondhand; none were taken by the current archivist.
Thanks for flipping through. There’s always more in the box.
